HELLO magazine: I had my tarot cards read

I’m not in any way a spiritual person, and would typically eye-roll at the mention of star signs. However I had reached a point where I was willing to try anything to find some guidance, or solutions to my perceived problems. I booked a session with renowned tarot card reader Annabelle Mitzman, who a close friend had been seeing for years and came highly recommended. I had no idea what to expect or how the session worked, and was intrigued to find out more…

HELLO magazine: I tried EFT (tapping)

EFT sits happily under the umbrella of ‘holistic’ treatments, and despite remaining relatively unknown by the masses, its popularity as a healing modality is growing. There’s no shortage of famous faces singing its benefits, with even Prince Harry claiming to be a convert. The Emotional Freedom Technique (also known as ‘tapping’), is similar to acupuncture, but without the needles. The process entails gently self-tapping various points on your face and body (the ends of your meridian lines), in order to clear blocks or built-in pockets of trauma.

HELLO magazine: I ditched my phone for a week

On my pursuit of better sleep, health and increased happiness, I’ve really started to tune into the little things that bring me joy. These can come in a multitude of forms – from conversations with friends, spending time with my little nephews or cooking a delicious meal. If I was to pick just one thing that boosts my wellbeing and enhances my happiness time after time? It’s switching off. Despite living in a very digital world, nothing makes me feel better than time away from my phone or laptop, especially when combined with being in nature.

HELLO magazine: I quit drinking for 3 months

It’s no secret that (excessively) drinking alcohol damages our health and wellbeing. It deprives us of sleep, saps our energy, wreaks havoc with our complexion and generally makes us feel bad. So why do we do it? Why is it that one habit we find so hard to break or change?

HELLO magazine: Hypnotherapy

Hands up who can remember their first heartbreak? It’s an almost impossible experience to forget, and likely came after a wonderfully blissful period of young love, hope and optimism. So why is it that as adults, the pain can still feel visceral? It’s one of those situations that doesn’t seem to get easier to deal with, no matter how experienced you are or how much self-love you’ve practiced. The bad news is – there’s no one-size-fits-all way to heal, but the good news? There are many different things you can try.

HELLO magazine: Volunteering for the NHS

If there was one positive to be taken from the global pandemic, for me, it was forming a sense of community whilst learning the value of human connection. There was a sense of comradery formed in local communities, we learnt the names of our neighbours and there was safety in knowing that we were all in it together. Having spent a large part of the first lockdown volunteering organising the production and distribution of face shields – for the first time in my life I felt like I had a true purpose. It feels good to do good, and this was never truer than in 2020.

HELLO magazine: Biohacking

Also known as ‘do-it-yourself’ biology, biohacking is the art and science of making incremental changes to your body, diet and lifestyle, in order to improve your overall health and wellbeing. Biohackers believe that by harnessing the molecular knowledge we have about the body, we are able to mimic its processes to influence our health. Using biology, we can manipulate bodily function and structures to optimise themselves.

HELLO magazine: Somadome Pod

Something many of us seem to struggle with is calming our busy minds, especially after a long day in the office or trying to juggle too many things at once. Carving out the time to manage our home life, families, careers and relationships, all while looking after ourselves can often feel like an uphill battle. The result? Feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, or like we just can’t seem to get anything done. We all know that meditation can help you keep your thoughts in check and your mind calm, but finding the time or knowing where to start with a new practice can sometimes feel like another chore on the to-do-list.

HELLO magazine: Ozone Therapy

Ozone therapy is an alternative medicine practice, which claims that the use of ozone gas can act as an antioxidant in the body; reducing inflammation, improving circulation, decreasing signs of ageing and helping to detoxify the body. However, a quick google search will reveal that there is very little scientific evidence to back this up, and in fact it seems there’s a high risk of using ozone gas (in one of its many forms) causing plenty of unpleasant side effects and negative reactions.

HELLO magazine: Acupuncture

My first session took place days after a very sudden and painful break-up, where I sobbed my way through the consultation and was searching for anything to help me with the shock and onslaught of painful emotions. The acupuncture points are believed to stimulate the central nervous system, with a view to ‘balancing’ out your energy so it can move freely through you again. When we experience stress/trauma/illness/inflammation, our energy can get blocked which will inevitably throw us off balance.

HELLO Magazine: Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral Therapy is a hands-on healing modality, which claims to release and heal trauma in the body, using a technique called ‘somatic emotional release’. The idea is that everything that our mind and body experiences (including trauma), is suppressed, retained or stored in our body. As most healing practitioners will tell you – the body never forgets. A Craniosacral therapist will use a very gentle ‘touch’ technique, to examine membranes and movement of the fluids in and around the central nervous system.

HELLO magazine: Cold Water Therapy

I know I’m not alone in thinking I’m the only one who didn’t kick off January submerged in a freezing cold ice bath. My social media was flooded with footage of even the most unlikely candidates lowering themselves, grimacing, into a rather unpleasant looking bin/bucket/bath of iced cold water. Smiling through gritted teeth, you couldn’t help feeling sorry for the pained expressions and freezing limbs– that is, until they emerged afterwards; looking smug, glowy and buzzing for the day ahead.

Let’s talk about: Post-engagement anxiety

Feeling overwhelmed, anxious, sad or confused after getting engaged is completely normal, and absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. Saying ‘yes’ can instantly shift your entire identity, and it often feels as though life (as you know it) will never be the same. Naturally, this can feel overwhelming, and with monumental change comes a whole range of human emotions.

How to become Fearless

For many, being fearful is the antithesis of confident. It’s black or white – you can either feel one or the other. As a confidence and mindset coach, I can confirm, this is absolutely not true. Lets Talk: Money

What’s the one thing we feel we can’t talk about, but also can’t live without? Money. It can often feel like this big dirty secret, wrapped up in discomfort, shame, fear and guilt – but it absolutely shouldn’t, and doesn’t have to be this way. We need it, we rely on it and we can’t simply live without it – so it’s time to embrace the fear. Let me tell you how:

How to deal with being Dumped

When you strip away the raw emotion, what’s left after being dumped, is rejection in its simplest form. Pure, basic hurt and rejection. There’s no denying it can be painful and a shock to the system, but it’s most definitely not the end of the world. In fact one day you will be able to look back and realise it was a blessing in disguise – whether finding that perspective takes weeks, months or years – I promise you will get there. Just ask anyone whose ever experienced heartbreak. Does it hurt? Yes. Does it heal? Also yes.

How to Break-Up with someone, kindly.

Let’s just be clear, there’s no ‘right’ way to break up with someone. It’s often painful, messy, complicated, confusing and sometimes unexpected– but if you are the one in control, there are ways in which to end your relationship with a scrap of kindness and a lot of dignity. It’s no easy feat and it’s certainly not a one-size-fits-all approach, but it can be done.
